Choosing all-season tires for your SUV

SUV all-season tires

SUV all-season tires are a great choice for three-season driving in most parts of the United States and Canada – and four-season driving in areas that don’t experience winter weather. The drawback is that they do not hold the “Three Peak Mountain Snowflake” symbol. This means that this tire is not recommended for the use in areas with winter weather. On the other hand, this tire can safely be used year-round in areas of the United States with mild weather. There are some states in the United States where the weather stays mild year-round and, in these States, all-season tires hold an advantage. They allow for a smooth ride and long tread life while providing optimal handling on both dry and wet roads. The all-season tires are great for 3 seasons, mainly spring to fall. If living in an area with cold, snowy or icy winters, you would be better off investing in all-weather tires or dedicated SUV winter tires in the winter.

It is also important when shopping for tires to buy tires with the right dimensions for your vehicle. If, for an example, buying tires for an SUV with the recommended dimensions by the manufacturer being 225/65/17 then you need to get either 225/65/17 winter tires, 225/65/17 all-weather tires or 225/65/17 all-season tires. These dimensions describe the width (225 mm) and the number 65 means that the tire’s section height is 65% of the tire’s section width. The last number is the diameter of the rim in inches.

Tires like the Nokian eNTYRE C/S is a new all-season tire especially designed for SUVs. They feature the latest technologies ensuring uncompromising performance, durability, comfort and safety on snowy, wet and dry surfaces alike. It also provides the best hydroplaning protection. This is a very important feature as hydroplaning can be very serious and quite frightening. Also, with the heavier weight of SUVs and especially electric SUVs hydroplaning protection is very important. These tires also offer the Nokian Tyres Aramid Sidewall technology, this sidewall compound is exceptionally durable and puncture resistant.

If the choice exists to equip your vehicle with all-season tires, then that is by far the better choice. With the above-mentioned advantages over the all-weather tires there is always the option if residing in an area with severe winter weather, to place dedicated winter tires on your vehicle during the winter months. This actually remains the best option for both safety and handling on snow and ice. Whether the choice is studded or non-studded winter tires, nothing outperforms a dedicated winter tire on snow and ice. If the area where you live does not have severe winter conditions than the all-season tires can be used year-round offering a durable, comfortable and silent driving experience.
